Live From the Fur Peace Ranch

Probably the coolest part of my job at WOUB in Athens was working at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch. Jorma and his rockstar buddies would host a series of classes focusing on various guitar skills, and at the end of the week there would be a live concert. For two years I recorded these concerts and eventually helped mix and edit them for radio broadcast. Here are a couple excerpts I created to give you a general idea of what these concerts were like.

Chicago Blues Jam

“Steady Rollin” Bob Margolin, Hubert Sumlin, Bob Stroger, and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith take the stage with storm. These guys are truly legends and have played with blues royalty, and this clip proves that the blues live on.

Tommy Emmanuel

What can I say about this guy? I think he is the best acoustic guitar player around. His percussive and intricate style of playing is awesome, and he puts on one of the best live shows ever. He played two nights at the Ranch, and this excerpt is from the first.
